Ola celebrates ‘Daan Utsav’ in Pune; rolls out contribution drives to support more than 7,000 underprivileged children

·         Freshly-cooked food to be distributed to 5,000 kids living in the slum areas in the city
 

Pune, 6th October 2016: In an endeavour to help more than 7,000 underprivileged children in Pune, Ola, India’s largest transportation platform, today announced an on-demand contribution drive for its customers in the city. As part of this campaign, Ola will introduce a new icon on its app called ‘Donate’ using which Ola customers will be able to contribute unused books, toys, games for more than 2,000 underprivileged children enrolled in ‘Teach For India’ partner schools. The category will be live between 11am-3pm, on 6th and 7th October.

In addition to this, Ola users can also volunteer as teachers with Teach For India on 8th October. Users who want to visit Teach For India schools, can enroll themselves online by filling out a form available at https://docs.google.com/a/olacabs.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScoPuto9zb5uVux75y2awaTf6upx0mUYh0bBFLKtTZdQVt9Gw/viewform#responses. The volunteers will be eligible for free Ola rides to and from Teach For India schools. On the same day, Ola will also deliver free freshly-cooked food packets to almost 5, 000 underprivileged kids living in various slum areas of Pune. As a part of this day-long activity, a dedicated Ola cab and auto will go around the city, donating the food packets in the slum areas.

Ola is also rolling out similar campaigns in other cities like Bhopal, Nagpur and Ahmedabad. The Company will deploy Ola Cabs and Autos to distribute food grains amongst the underprivileged in the three cities.

Ola has used its technology to initiate similar donation and contribution campaigns, with the most recent ones being the donation drives in Assam, Allahabad and Varanasi where fellow citizens were encouraged to contribute non-perishable items for the flood victims.
