OPDs At Pune Municipal Corporation Hospitals Begin Again

Pune, November 2, 2020: With a decline in the number of COVID-19 patients, the Out Patient Departments (OPD) which were closed down for the non-COVID patients now have begun at Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) hospitals in the city. 

As many as 47 OPDs have started working again for non-covid patients at 71 PMC dispensaries and hospitals. Recently, the private hospitals too had opened up the OPDs for non-covid patients. PMC medical department officials said that with only 300 to 350 COVID cases, we have transformed the COVID wards into non-covid OPDs.

Special care for pregnant women

The pregnant women from financially weaker families are registered with PMC hospitals for the deliveries. The number of such women is 18,000 to 20,000 however, only five thousand women got enrolled for it who have their due dates. Thus, we have created special wards for them, said PMC medical officer Dr Sanjeev Wavare.

Dr Wavare also said that the non-covid patients had stopped visiting the OPD’s due to the rush of COVID patients, but slowly now people have started coming in.
