Paraplegic Rehabilitation Centre  KIRKEE INMATES VISITS INS SHIVAJI

As part of Navy week celebrations, a day picnic was organised by INS Shivaji  for 73 inmates, families and staff of Paraplegic Rehabilitation Centre (PRC), Kirkee. PRC is a rehabilitation centre for ex-servicemen who were paralysed in the course of duty to the nation. INS Shivaji conducts annual picnic for these personnel to show its support for the organisation. The event was aimed to create sense of belongingness and camaraderie among the personnel of PRC and Indian navy. The day long event was organised on the picturesque location near of Shiv Sagar Lake inside INS Shivaji. Commodore KP Arvindan, Station Commander, Lonavla graced the occasion with his presence and interacted with the personnel and families.
 
The day started with reception of guests and warm welcome address by the organising committee of NBCD School and Education Department of Shivaji. After light refreshment, the inmates and families enjoyed boat rides in the calm waters of Shiv Sagar Lake amidst cool breeze. The elegant environs were further being soothed by musical symphony of Naval Band, which contributed immensely to raise the spirits of these brave soldiers. Station Commander Lonavla joined the picnic during the lunch and spent time with all inmates. While interacting with them, he paid regards to their indomitable spirit and assured them of assistance from INS Shivaji in any emergency.
 
Events like Tambola, Karaoke and gift presentation continued till late afternoon, ensuring involvement of all in various proceedings. The activities were followed by screening of movie ‘Force 2’ at station recreation hall ‘Menaka’. Finally, with a quick familiarisation visit of the base, the event was successfully culminated. The guests after thoroughly living and enjoying a day at INS Shivaji left for PRC in high spirits and with utmost regards for the Indian Navy.
