Kottayam, 11th January 2022: The Kerala police have arrested seven people for allegedly being involved in a racket of swapping wives for sexual activities.
The woman, a housewife, had complained against her husband who was a part of the ‘partner swapping racket’. She said, “he (her husband) forced her to have sexual relations with another man.”
After the arrest of her husband, the police found out the wide network behind the partner swapping racket.
The police said, “while seven persons were arrested, more than 25 people are under observation and more arrests are likely to be made in a couple of days.”
Further, police said, “the accused belonged to three districts of the state, adding that people from across the state are part of this racket.”
According to the police, more than 1000 couples are victims of this partner swapping racket. The racket was operated through social media platforms like Telegram and Facebook.
A senior police official from Kottayam told news agency IANS, “The modus operandi is to first join the Telegram and Messenger groups and then two or three couples meet periodically. After that women are exchanged and there were even instances of a woman being shared by three men at a time. Money also changed hands as some single members in the group with some men providing their wives for money for a day of physical relationship.”
A detailed investigation is on to get details of all those involved in this racket and whether there are more such groups associated with it.
