PCMC: 4 new Corona patients today, parts of Akurdi, Old Sangvi sealed now

Pimpri, May 14, 2020: Four persons from Pimpri Chinchwad were found COVID19 positive today taking the total tally of patients to 183. Also, new patients were detected in PMPML bus stand locality in Old Sangvi and some parts of Akurdi, following which these areas have been sealed now. Two other patients are from Charholi and Chinchwad station which are already sealed.

According to Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), out of 183 patients, 116 have been cured and discharged from hospitals, while four persons have died. There are still 63 active patients undergoing treatment in PCMC and outside. Also, out of 23 patients from outside who were admitted here, eight have been discharged while five have died.

The sealed areas of Old Sangvi include Buddhaghosh Society – New Unity Medicare – Jayaraj Residency Phase 1 – Ganesh Bakery – Waghmare Road – Hershal Electricals – Sivaganga Complex.  The sealed areas in Akurdi include Shubhshree Housing Society – Jai Ganesh Hotel – Medina Masjid – Sadguru Apartment – Akurdi Main Road – Khandoba Mal Chowk – Inox Road – Jai Ganesh Vision – Hotel Courtyard.

Meanwhile in Pune city, today there was a massive jump in the number of new Coronavirus positive patients in Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) area. With 163 new COVID19 cases the total number of positive patients has reached 2987 out of which 1486 have been cured and discharged while 169 have died.

According to PMC, today 109 patients were discharged from hospitals after they recovered from COVID. There are still 1332 active patients admitted in different hospitals and 116 of them are in critical condition. 34 of them are on ventilator support. Also, samples of 1414 persons were collected for testing today.

Across Maharashtra, 1602 new Covid-19 cases were reported today. The state tally of COVID-19 positive patients is now 27,524. There were 44 COVID-related deaths in the state today.  Out of the 44 deaths today, 31 were men and 13 women. 21 of them aged over 60 years, 20 were from the age group 40 to 59 years and 3 were aged less than 40 years. 34 out of 44 patients (77%) had high-risk co-morbidities such as diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, etc. Death toll in Covid-19 patients has now gone up to 1019 in the state. 6059 patients have been discharged till date after full recovery.

Out of 2,40,145 laboratory samples, 2,12,621 were negative and 27,524 have been tested positive for coronavirus until today. As per the guidance from the Government of India, cluster containment action plan is being implemented in places where clusters of patients have been found in the state. There are 1512 active containment zones in the state currently. Total 14,253 surveillance squads worked today across the state and surveillance of 59.04 lakh population was done. Currently, 3,15,686 people are in-home quarantine and 15,465 people are in institutional quarantine.
