PCMC Not in Red Zone Now, Containment Zones to continue

Pimpri Chinchwad, May 19, 2020: The Maharashtra government has excluded Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) from Red Zone in fourth phase of the lockdown. The new guideline will come into effect from May 22 and will continue till May 31. However, strict curfew will continue in the containment zones where Coronavirus positive patients have been detected.

According to PCMC officials, public transport buses like ST PMPML will not ply. Also, restaurants, hotels, malls, salon, beauty parlour, spa will remain closed alongwith schools, colleges and religious places. Also, persons over the age of 65, children under the age of 10 and pregnant women will be prohibited from leaving homes unless absolutely required.

There are 42 containment zones in PCMC. In these areas only essential commodities shops, medical store, hospital are allowed to open. PCMC Commissioner Shravan Hardikar said that guidelines for PCMC area will be issued on Wednesday as per the instructions of the state government. PCMC has been removed from Red Zone now.

In Pimpri-Chinchwad, only drivers and two passengers will be allowed to travel in taxis, cabs, rickshaws, private four-wheelers. Only one person can travel on a bike. However, manpower in government and semi-government offices will be restored.
