PCMC Plans To Impose Rs 1000 Fine For Spitting On Road, Public Places

Pimpri, September 15, 2020: Coronavirus disease (Covid-19) infection spreads fast through spitting. Therefore, spitting in public places is prohibited and a fine of Rs 150 is being levied. However, as the infection is on the rise, therefore Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is considering imposing a fine of Rs 1000 for spitting on the road.

Many people chew tobacco, gutka and spit on the road. The PCMC has been imposing Rs 150 fine for spitting and Rs 500 for not wearing a mask. This fine has been collected since April 23, but many people are seen walking around without wearing masks and the number of people spitting in public areas has not decreased. Therefore, the municipal corporation had decided to increase the fine. Those who refuse to pay the fine will be prosecuted by registering FIRs.

Fine collected in the last 6 months:
– Rs 7 lakh collected from 5000 people for spitting in public places
– Rs 17.5 lakh collected from 3500 people for not wearing masks
