Pimpri, February 4, 2021: Schools in Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal corporation (PCMC) area for std 5th to 8th has started from today. Earlier it was decided to start the classes from 1st February but many schools couldn’t get permission from PCMC as the inspection was not done in those schools.

Due to the Corona outbreak, schools could not start in June last year. As the COVID19 cases are decreasing, the state school education department started classes IX to XII from November 23.  After the smooth running of these classes, the department decided to start classes V to VIII from January 27.

However, schools needed to obtain permission from PCMC’s education department by getting an inspection done. But many schools in the city couldn’t get it done, hence permission was not given to those schools to reopen.

PCMC officials said that all the possible measures have been undertaken in each school. Sanitisers, thermal guns have been provided to 90 % of schools under Municipal corporation. The proposal for buying more thermal gun is already placed before a standing committee. Instructions have been given to private schools to provide this equipment in their schools. If any student is found with covid-19 like symptoms, his/her parents will be contacted immediately.
