New Delhi, November 2, 2020: According to official figures of Patanjali Ayurved, the company has sold 25 lakh Coronil kits as of October 18. According to Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali Ayurved, Coronil pills worth Rs 250 crore have been sold in India and abroad in the last four months.

The tablets, which claimed to be effective in fighting Coronavirus, were launched by Patanjali Ayurved on 23 June. The sales have been done online, offline, direct marketing, general marketing and through Patanjali’s dispensaries and medical centres spread across the country.

However, after the launch of Coronil, it has also been associated with controversies. Firstly on June 23, there was a dispute whether Coronil was effective in fighting the Coronavirus infection. Then the very next day, the Ayush Department of Uttarakhand sent a notice to Patanjali and summoned the reply in seven days. Then Patanjali changed their claim, instead of calling it as an anti-Coronavirus drug which is effective against the infection, they decided to call it an immunity booster tablet. Coronil kits were sold well after coming to the market.

While launching this medicine, Baba Ramdev had said that only indigenous ingredients have been used in making this medicine. It has Mulethi, Giloy, Ashwagandha, Tulsi and Swasari. He also said that the drug has been manufactured using Tinosporide, which is found in Giloy, anti-bacterial elements found in Ashwagandha and the juice of Swasari.
