Photograpgers@Pune to host ‘Drushtikon 2018’

Pune, April 2: Photographers@Pune (P@P) an informal group of passionate photographers is hosting the 9th edition of ‘Drushtikon 2018’, their annual photography exhibition between March 6th and 8th at Raja Ravi Varma Art Gallery on Ghole Road. The timing of the exhibition would be 10:00am to 8:00pm on all days. Entry to this exhibition is free.

Acclaimed young theatre artist and film director Nipun Dharmadhikari will inaugurate the exhibition at 11 am on Friday, April 6. This year ‘Drushtikon’ will showcase 98 photographs by 70 photographers shortlisted from more than 5000 entries that are shot across the globe with different types of cameras. Genres like landscapes, portraits, macro, abstract, wildlife and street would be on display in the exhibition.

The common interest amongst P@P members is their passion and interest for photography, and some connection with the glorious city of Pune. P@P started with half a dozen members and today boasts nearly 6500 members and growing by the day. Members hail from various walks of life ranging from students to doctors and even IT professionals. Age groups too range from 15-yearold to corporate head honchos and senior citizens.

The P@Phas a Facebook group which acts as the platform for member activities where members share pictures, seek feedback, and discuss finer aspects of photography, equipment and much more. The members of the group meet regularly for photo shoots, photo-walks, seminars and workshops. Fifty percent of earning gained from the sale of photographs on display will go into sponsoring education for specially-abled children from Vidya Mahamandal.

About Photographers@Pune: The P@P Facebook group acts as the platform for member activities. Members share pictures, seek feedback, and discuss finer aspects of photography, equipment and much more. On an average 30 new members and 1000 new photographs are added to the P@P community every week. This pool currently stands at more than 1,54,000 photographs clicked and shared by members.

But P@P is not just an ‘online’ group. Members meet regularly for photo shoots, photowalks, seminars, workshops and a grand annual photography exhibition, Drushtikon.
