Pune, 24th June 2023: Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has taken a significant step towards efficiently managing its sanitation workers by adopting modern technology for tracking their activities. A pilot program has been initiated in the Aundh, Baner, and Balewadi areas to track the movement of sanitation workers and garbage vehicles. This initiative will be gradually expanded to cover all parts of the city in the coming days.

Given the considerable number of sanitation workers employed by the PMC, effectively overseeing their daily operations has become increasingly challenging. To address this issue, the administration has decided to employ modern technology to ensure the optimal utilization of available manpower in the solid waste department.

Under this system, each employee will wear a wristband equipped with a GPS-like tracking system while on duty. This technology will provide real-time information on the location of each worker and their movements, which can be monitored from a central control room. Additionally, the system will enable better control and monitoring of garbage truck movements. As a pilot program, the implementation of this tracking system has begun in the Aundh, Baner, and Balewadi areas, with plans to expand it citywide within the next two months.
