Pimpri Chinchwad: 80 People Caught For Drunk Driving; Police Collect Rs 12 Lakh Fine For Traffic Rule Violations During New Year Celebrations

Pimpri-Chinchwad, January 1, 2021: On the eve of the new year, Pimpri-Chinchwad police took action against 80 for drunk driving besides preventive action against 55 and 3500 issued receipts for violating rules.
Drinking and driving increase the risk of accidents. Therefore, after consuming alcohol people are not supposed to drive and if found action is taken against the concerned person.
Some drivers argue with the police claiming that they have not consumed alcohol. Therefore, Pimpri-Chinchwad police took scientific action to check such drivers and reduce the number of accidents. To check if a driver has consumed alcohol his blood test is conducted to check the alcohol consumption level. Police directly took action against those in whose blood sample alcohol was found.
The police stations took action against 30 people with highest by Nigdi police which took action against 19, Alandi 7 and Wakad 3. Traffic police took action against 50 people.
A total 55 preventive actions were taken including 5 by MIDC Bhosari Police, 3 by Bhosari, 39 by Hinjewadi 39, and two each by Dehuroad, Shirgaon and Mahalunge police.
The traffic police have penalised a large number of people for violating the rules. On December 31st, the traffic police took action against 3,292 people. A fine of Rs 12,78,400 has been collected.
