Pimpri Chinchwad Police Nab Notorious Motorcycle Thief; Recover 15 Stolen Bikes Worth Rs 3.2 Lakh
Pimpri Chinchwad, 1st October 2024: Pimpri Chinchwad Police have taken action against a notorious vehicle thief involved in stealing motorcycles in Bhosari, Dighi, Chikhali, and other areas. Fifteen motorcycles worth Rs 3,20,000 have been seized from the accused, helping solve 15 cases registered across the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate. This operation was carried out by the Detection Branch (DB) of Bhosari Police Station.
Bhosari Police have arrested Swapnil Bhagwat Ahire (age 24, resident of Bhosari), who had multiple theft cases registered against him at various police stations.
According to information provided by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 1) Swapna Gore, while investigating vehicle theft crimes within their jurisdiction, Bhosari Police Station officials used CCTV footage and other technical analyses of the areas where thefts occurred. On the 25th of September, the Detection Branch (DB) of Bhosari Police Station was patrolling the area when Police Constables Garole and Narawade noticed a man behaving suspiciously with a vehicle that did not appear to be his. When questioned, he gave vague answers. The constables took him to senior officials from the DB, where he was identified as Swapnil Ahire, a known history-sheeter.
Upon further investigation, it was found that the motorcycle in his possession was stolen. He was detained, and during questioning, he confessed to stealing 15 motorcycles worth Rs 3,20,000, which helped solve 10 cases across the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate, including 7 registered in Bhosari and 1 each in Dighi, Chikhali, and MIDC Bhosari Police Stations. Ahire also has a record of stealing vehicles in Nashik District. Bhosari Police are continuing to investigate the matter further.
This operation was conducted under the guidance of Pimpri Chinchwad Commissioner of Police Vinoy Kumar Choubey, Joint Commissioner of Police Dr Shashikant Mahavarkar, Additional Commissioner of Police Vasant Pardeshi, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 1) Swapna Gore, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Pimpri Division) Sachin Hire. The team, led by Senior Police Inspector Vishwanath Chavan and Police Inspector Bharat Shinde, included Assistant Police Inspector Balaji Jonapalle, Assistant Police Sub Inspector Rakesh Boyane, and Police Constables Mule, Navnath Pote, Prakash Bhojane, Swami Narawade, Sagar Jadhav, Prabhakar Khade, Sachin Satpute, Mahadev Garole, Dnyaneshwar Salve, Anil Joshi, and Vishal Kale.
Five Stolen Auto Rickshaws Worth Rs 7.3 Lakh Recovered
Similarly, in another operation, the Property Cell of the Pimpri Chinchwad PCPC’s Crime Branch, led by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sandeep Doiphode and Senior Police Inspector Vijay Dhamal, arrested a notorious thief named Atharva, also known as Yash Jaywant Kingare (age 20, resident of Dehu Gaon), who was involved in stealing auto rickshaws within the Pune City Police Commissionerate. As a result, five cases have been solved, with two registered at Samarth Police Station and one each at Bund Garden, Bibwewadi, and Khadak Police Stations. Five auto rickshaws worth Rs 7,30,000 have been recovered.
