PLATINUM JUBILEE CELEBRATION OF ARMY DENTAL CORPS

Army Dental Corps will be completing 75 years of its glorious run as on 01 Feb 2016 . To commemorate this monumental occasion, Command Military Dental Centre has been organising  a series of year long events and activities in Pune, Kirkee, Khadakwasla and Lohegaon complexes as well as in the whole Southern Command Zone. The objective of conducting these events were not only to create awareness about oral health but also to instill good virtues towards nation building through various social outreach programmes.

Accordingly Blood Donation Camps were organised in which personnel of the unit took part with great enthusiasm. A cycle rally comprising of one Offr and five Other Ranks was also organised on this occasion to spread awareness on oral health among geriatric population of Pune living in various old age homes. This rally visited six Old Age homes of Pune and conducted free dental examination and treatment of the inmates. Oral Hygiene Kits were also distributed among the inmates and advice on oral hygiene maintenance particularly for the geriatrics were also given.

In addition, tree plantation programmes were organized in various Military Stations with an objective of making our place a better place to live in.

Doctors from Dental Units also visited various schools namely Kendriya Vidyalaya and Army Public School (both Junior & Senior Wings) to motivate young children on the importance of oral hygiene maintenance. Various lectures, presentations and demonstrations were organised and pamphlets on the same were also distributed among the teachers & children during the camp.

Various refresher courses and hands on training/courses on contemporary issues were also organised for  Dental Surgeons and Para – Dental Staff as a part of the ongoing Continuing Dental Education programmes aimed at keeping them abreast of the latest technological advances in dental  equipment and materials.
