PMC Care 2.0: 14,644 Citizen Complaints Pending Across Pune
Pune, 1st September 2026: Nearly 15,000 complaints filed by citizens through the Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) PMC Care 2.0 grievance redressal system are currently pending, raising concerns over the civic body’s response to day-to-day public grievances.
The civic administration has attributed the backlog to staff transfers, employees being assigned to Special Intensive Revision (SIR) work and delays in processing and resolving complaints.
PMC Care 2.0 was introduced to provide citizens with a centralised platform for registering complaints related to civic issues. Citizens can lodge complaints through nine platforms, including the PMC website, mobile application, WhatsApp, call centre and the civic body’s social media channels.
Complaints related to issues such as encroachments, roads, drainage and unauthorised constructions are consolidated and forwarded to the concerned departments for action.
Under the system, nodal officers are expected to categorise complaints and forward them to the relevant ward office, head department or engineer. Complainants are also supposed to be informed about the action taken on their complaints.
However, officials said several complaints have remained at the initial stage for the past two months and have not been forwarded to the concerned departments. As a result, the number of pending complaints has reached 14,644.
The complaints are pending across 15 ward offices and around 43 civic departments.

Administration cites staff shortage and transfers
Rahul Jagtap, head of the Information and Technology Department, said several civic employees have recently been assigned election-related work, while routine staff transfers have also resulted in new employees taking charge at various offices.
“Over the past few days, several employees have been assigned responsibility for electoral roll revision work. At the same time, routine transfers within the civic body have brought new staff to some offices. As a result, complaints have remained pending. Meetings will be held soon to plan the work and clear the backlog,” Jagtap said.
The growing number of pending complaints has raised questions over the effectiveness of PMC Care 2.0, which was introduced to provide citizens with a quick and centralised mechanism for registering and resolving civic grievances.
