Baner, 6th January 2026: As the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) elections 2026 approach, a clear preference for educated and forward-looking leadership is emerging among voters working in the information technology sector in Ward No. 9. IT professionals across Baner, Balewadi, Pashan, Sus and Sutarwadi are increasingly backing candidates with strong educational backgrounds, technological understanding and a modern outlook.

Ward 9 has witnessed rapid growth as an IT hub, with thousands of young professionals employed in leading national and multinational companies. Voters from this segment say their expectations go beyond basic civic amenities and include planned infrastructure development, solutions to traffic congestion, digital governance and transparent administration.

During interactions with IT professionals in the area, many emphasised the need for educated representation in urban decision-making. “A city like Pune needs leaders who understand technology, planning and governance,” several voters said, pointing out that professional experience and policy-oriented thinking are essential for effective civic administration.

Residents also highlighted that familiarity with corporate work culture, awareness of social issues and a long-term development vision are key factors influencing their voting choices. According to them, these attributes are necessary to address challenges arising from rapid urbanisation in IT-dominated localities.
