PMC Prepares List Of Vacant Amenity Spaces In Pune City; Highest In Baner, No Space Available In Peth Areas

Pune, 24th August 2021: The Pune municipal corporation (PMC) has prepared a list of amenity spaces vacant in the city which will be given on a long-term lease. According to the list, Baner has the highest number of amenity spaces while there is no space vacant in the central area of the city.
The PMC standing committee has approved to lease out 269 amenity spaces in the city. It is estimated that PMC will earn Rs 1753 crore through this.
The proposal will be presented to the PMC general body meeting on Thursday for final approval. Opposition parties, NGOs, organizations have opposed the decision.
The civic body has made two lists, one listing 184 amenity spaces and the other is the list of 85 reserved spaces. The reservations shown in the development plan of 1987 as well as the amenity space have come under the control of the Municipal Corporation. Out of these, PMC has developed 556 spaces. As 269 spaces in 22 different parts of the city are vacant, they will be leased, the PMC proposal states.
