PMC To Remove Major Encroachments On Pune-Solapur Highway To Widen The Road Between Bhairoba Nullah And Gadital
Pune 30th August 2023: The Pune Municipal Corporation has finally decided to widen the Pune-Solapur Highway between Bhairoba Nullah and Gadital Bus Stand by removing the major encroachments from the road. The 6 km stretch witnesses heavy traffic flow and some permanent establishments on the route are obstructing the traffic movement.
The PMC officials have identified some structures including MSEDCL poles, trees, religious structures and encroached shops on the highway which will be removed under the anti-encroachment drive to widen the road. Meeting was also held with the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited and City Police in this regard and the officials will soon start work on it. The PMC has also proposed to shift the BRTS medians on the road to allow free flow of traffic movement on the highway.
The PMC officials have also planned to allow public parking under the Gadital flyover to avoid illegal parking on the road that often leads to congestion. It may be noted that this road has become one of the busiest routes
of the city in the last few years. According to officials, over 1.5 Lakh people travel in the PMPML buses on this route every day. The plan also includes removal of cycle tracks on this route.
