Camp, 4th March 2023: PG Centers of English, Economics and Urdu in association with Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) organized One Day Workshop on Career Opportunities in Humanities with an objective to make humanities students familiar with career opportunities – available at present and openings in future – in sectors beyond the Education sector.

Dr. Aftab Anwar Shaikh, Principal of Poona College, spoke as Resource Person. He motivated students to rigorously remain goal-oriented throughout their academic journey, hold higher degrees but learn to monetise their skills and talent. “Go for mehndi-design course, fashion-designing and other courses preparing for handsome-salaried career”, said Prof. Shaikh while commenting on the ever-changing paradigms of success in today’s demanding and unforgiving culture at workplaces.

While unveiling the theme of the workshop to the jam-packed gathering of 118 students, Zameer Salim Sayyed, one of the Coordinators of the Workshop, said, “Professional development and long term career planning are no longer optional activities for graduate and postgraduate students in humanities” highlighting the need to start planning for career well in advance._

Moinuddin Khan, Vice Principal, Dr. Iqbal Shaikh, IQAC coordinator, Zeenat Merchant, Head, Department of English and Dr. M. Shahid Jamal Ansari, Head, Department of Economics were all instrumental in the organization and success of the workshop.
