New Delhi, 29th July 2023: Today, in a momentous event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the prestigious Akhil Bhartiya Shiksha Samagam 2023 at the renowned Bharat Mandapam in Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The two-day event, held in conjunction with the third anniversary of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, aims to foster discussions on various critical topics related to education.

The Samagam comprises sixteen sessions covering a wide range of subjects such as Equitable and Inclusive Education, National Institute Ranking Framework, Internationalisation of Education, Access to Quality Education and Governance, and Socio-Economically Disadvantaged Group Issues.

Amidst the proceedings of the program, Prime Minister Modi took a significant step by revealing the inaugural disbursement of funds from the PM SHRI Scheme. This initiative focuses on empowering schools to nurture students into active, productive, and contributing citizens, aligning with the vision outlined in the NEP 2020 for creating an equitable, inclusive, and plural society.

Additionally, Prime Minister Modi introduced books on education and skill development, which have been translated into 12 Indian languages. The Shiksha Mahakumbh, a two-day event, was inaugurated with the Prime Minister’s address. The opening ceremony witnessed Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan welcoming Prime Minister Modi.

The timing of this second edition of the Akhil Bhartiya Shiksha Samagam aligns perfectly with the implementation of the National Environment Policy 2020. Ahead of the event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with children attending the Samagam and visited an exhibition showcasing the work of students from across the country.

The inaugural session commenced at 10 a.m., and it was made accessible to audiences across multiple platforms, including Doordarshan, leading television channels, YouTube, and the official webcast portal at webcast.gov.in/moe. Viewers from various avenues could tune in to witness the event live. The event offers an excellent platform for academics, teachers, policymakers, sector experts, industry representatives, and students from schools, higher education, and skilling institutions to exchange insights, share success stories, and discuss best practices for effectively implementing the NEP 2020 and devising strategies to advance it further.

The National Education Policy, launched with Prime Minister Modi’s vision, aims to nurture and prepare the youth to lead the nation in the Amrit Kaal (a metaphorical term for a prosperous future). It emphasizes equipping children with the skills necessary to face future challenges while instilling them with fundamental human values.
