Program on awareness about legal rights of women held in Pune

Pune 29th September 2018:  In an effort to spread awareness about legal rights of women , an informative program was held at Patrakar Bhavan. This program was organised by Maharashtra State Women Commission in association with Aamhi Punekar. Vijaya Rahatkar, Chairperson Maharashtra State Women Commission, Advocate Supriya Kothari, Deputy Secretary General of Yashada Prerna Deshbhratar, and entrepreneur Naina Chopde, Pandit Vasant Gadgil , Hemant Jadhav secretary Amhi Punekar  were present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion Vijaya Rajatkar, President Maharashtra State Women Commission, said that many women are still unaware of their rights and  different  laws that exist for their protection. Therefore they don’t speak out and try to take action. But women should speak out if they face unfair treatment or violence .Maharashtra State Women Commission will help and guide them. Currently we are working with 450 organisations to spread awareness on this issue  and we aim to reach out to as many women as possible . Women in need of any guidance can make use of our Suhita Helpline .

She added that while the laws related to women rights  are becoming stronger , there are still some people who don’t respect women and need to change their mindset .

Pranav Pawar gave the welcome address , while advocate Supriya Kothari , Prerna Deshbhratar ,  and Naina Chopde also spoke on the occasion.
