‘Prostitution’: Pune Police Rescue Four Women in Raid on Kondhwa Spa; Woman Manager Arrested
Kondhwa, 8th March 2026: The Pune City Police Crime Branch conducted a successful raid on a spa in the Kondhwa area, rescuing four women who were allegedly being forced into prostitution. The operation took place on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at ‘Opal Day Spa’ located in the Sunshree Woods Commercial Premises at NIBM Road.
Acting on a tip-off received by the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU), police officials sent a decoy customer to verify the illegal activities. Once the information was confirmed, a team led by Police Inspector Chhagan Kapse raided the premises.
During the raid, the police arrested the spa manager, identified as 32-year-old T. Zunchumbini Thamphiolotha Khitan, a resident of Shivnerinagar, Kondhwa, originally from Bhandari Wokha in Nagaland. A search is also underway for a male accomplice involved in the racket.
Four victimized women were rescued from the establishment and have been sent for rehabilitation. A case has been registered at the Kondhwa Police Station under Sections 143(1)(3) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and relevant sections of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Pankaj Deshmukh, DCP (Crime) Nikhil Pingle, and ACP (Crime-3) Shankar Khatke. The raiding team included Police Inspector Chhagan Kapse, PSI Vishant Chavan, and police personnel Dattaram Jadhav, Babanrao Kedar, Bhujbal, Avinash Konde, and Khedekar.
