Protesters in Lonavla Block Deccan Queen Train, Demand Halt for Long-Distance and Vande Bharat Trains
Lonavla, 12th January 2024: In a recent development, the Deccan Queen Express en route to Mumbai faced an unexpected delay as it was obstructed by locals in Lonavla. The train was halted for approximately 20 minutes due to a protest staged by citizens demanding that long-distance and Vande Bharat trains make stops at Lonavla.
Reports indicate that the protest was a collective effort by locals advocating for a change in the train schedules to include Lonavla as a stop. Hundreds of residents participated in this movement, highlighting the significance of their demand.
The protest created a brief disruption until local law enforcement intervened to clear the tracks and disperse the demonstrators. The police’s timely action allowed the Deccan Queen train to resume its journey towards Mumbai without further delays.
