Pune: 13 Persons Booked for Vandalizing Rickshaws, Bikes in Vadgaon Sheri

Vadgaon Sheri, 23rd February 2025: A group of miscreants created chaos in the middle of the night by vandalizing vehicles and spreading panic during the annual yatra in Vadgaon Sheri. Chandannagar police have registered a case against 13 individuals involved in the incident.
The accused have been identified as Ropi Someshwar Panchal, Sahil Rathod, Bajrang Patole, Swapnil Tupasmindre, Raj Gaikwad, Sharad Kamble, Rohit Rathod, Altaf Sheikh, Ganesh Salgar, Kunal Parihar, Omi, Vitthal, and Manoj Navgire. A complaint regarding the incident was filed by Rohit Dhanaji Desai (24), a resident of Yogeshwar Society near Kurkute Hospital, Vadgaon Sheri.
According to the police, the incident took place around 1 AM on Saturday during the two-day yatra of the village deity. A group of individuals was shouting and creating a disturbance on the road when a local, Rishikesh Pavale, attempted to stop them. Following this, a mob armed with sticks entered an alley near Kurkute Hospital and began vandalizing vehicles while hurling abuses.
In the rampage, two auto-rickshaws and 10 to 12 two-wheelers were damaged. The sudden violence created panic in the area, leaving residents shaken.
Senior Police Inspector Seema Dhakne of Chandannagar Police Station confirmed that the accused, who had initially fled the scene, have now been taken into custody. The police are further investigating the matter.
