Pune: 135 new COVID patients today total 2380 in PMC, 167 total in PCMC

Pune, May 9, 2020: There were 135 new Coronavirus positive patients reported in Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) taking the total tally to 2380 in Pune city. Also, 96 patients were discharged while four patients died today.  According to PMC, since March 9 a total of 2980 positive COVID patients have been detected out of which 140 have died while 826 have been cured and discharged from hospitals. There are 1414 active patients still admitted to hospitals including 70 critical patients. 12 of them are on ventilator support.

In Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), in the last 24 hours a total of 12 new patients including a six months old girl, were detected taking the total tally to 167. Till now 80 patients have been cured including 3 from outside PCMC area. Till now 7 patients have died including three from Pune.

Today 1165 new Covid-19 cases were reported in Maharashtra. The state tally of COVID-19 positive patients is now 20,228. There were 48 COVID-related deaths in the state today. Out of these, 27 deaths were recorded in Mumbai, 9 in Pune, 8 in Malegaon city, 1 in Pune district, 1 in Akola city, 1 in Nanded city and 1 in Amaravati city. 8 deaths in Malegaon city are from the period 25th April 020 to 8th May 2020. 3800 patients have been discharged till date after full recovery.

Out of the 48 deaths today, 21 were men and 27 women. 27 of them aged over 60 years, 18 were from the age group 40 to 59 years and 3 were aged less than 40 years. Information regarding comorbidities of 9 patients who died is not available yet. 28 out of the rest 39 patients (72%) had high-risk co-morbidities such as diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, etc. Death toll in Covid-19 patients has now gone up to 779 in the state.

Out of 2,27,804 laboratory samples, 2,06,481 were negative and 20,228 have been tested positive for coronavirus until today. As per the guidance from the Government of India, cluster containment action plan is being implemented in places where clusters of patients have been found in the state. There are 1243 active containment zones in the state currently. Total 12,388 surveillance squads worked today across the state and surveillance of 55 lakh population was done. Currently, 2,41,290 people are in-home quarantine and 13,976 people are in institutional
quarantine.
