Pimpri, 3rd April 2023: The love affair of two minors from Nepal, Neha (14) and Nakul (19), both names changed, caused a stir in two countries, India and Nepal. The two decided to get married and traveled by bus for three days to reach Pimpri-Chinchwad, where Nakul’s sister lives.

However, Neha’s father filed a missing complaint with the local police in Nepal when she disappeared from their residence. The police searched for Neha but could not locate her.

Later, it was discovered that Nakul was also missing, and local relatives informed Neha’s father that the two were in contact for several days. Neha’s father added this information to the missing complaint and pursued the matter further. The police instructed him to go to the embassy, and with the help of the Indian and Nepalese embassies, the authorities located the two in India.

The Delhi-based officials then held talks with the Maharashtra Police chief and the Pimpri-Chinchwad police commissioner to discuss the search for Neha. Eventually, the police detained the two and subjected them to preliminary interrogation. Neha informed the authorities that Nakul did not abduct her, but she came to India with him willingly. She also expressed a desire to marry him, but Indian law mandates that a girl must be 18 and a boy 21 to get married.

Therefore, Neha agreed to return to Nepal. The authorities ensured that Nakul’s age was not less than 18, and he was required to attend the Pimpri police station every day until Neha returned to Nepal. Officials from a social organization in Nepal will arrive in India in the next few days to take Neha back, and she will be handed over to them.
