Pune: 15 BJP Workers Detained For Protesting At Congress Bhavan Over Remark On Savarkar By Rahul Gandhi
Shivajinagar, 18th November 2022: After Rahul Gandhi’s statement regarding Veer Damodar Savarkar, now Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has become aggressive. A protest march was taken out by BJP workers in Pune against Congress party.
At this time, some workers loudly shouted slogans like ‘Rahul Gandhi Murdabad’ and posters were put up saying that Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru apologized to Savarkar. Meanwhile, the police reached the spot and arrested the BJP workers.
Black paint was applied to Rahul Gandhi’s photo on the Bharat Jodo Yajna vehicle in Pune Congress Bhawan. Similarly, all the posters of Nehru apologising to Savarkar were immediately removed by the Congress workers.
Pune police have detained 15 BJP workers. Meanwhile, the BJP workers had left the premises in a panic, making loud slogans for some time.
Earlier, Rahul Gandhi made a statement about Savarkar. “Savarkar is not a true patriot. He was getting a pension from the British rulers. On one side is Birsa Munda, who sacrificed himself for the country at the age of 24, and on the other is Savarkar, who calls himself a freedom fighter.”
“Savarkar went against the country and helped the British rulers only to oppose the Congress.” MP Rahul Gandhi had said that he wrote several letters of apology to the British government to reduce the sentence in the Andaman Jail.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that “Swatantryaveer Savarkar is one of those leaders of the country who suffered imprisonment before independence and after independence suffered imprisonment of ridicule. Even today, Congress is working to imprison his thoughts.”
“The people of the state will answer them. Rahul Gandhi does not know the ‘S’ of Savarkar. They don’t know how many years they were in jail,” Fadnavis added.
