Pune: 15-Year-Old Hoax Caller from Kanpur Creates Stir with False Threat to IndiGo Airlines

Pune/Kanpur, 16th January 2024: A 15-year-old boy from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, has been identified as the culprit behind a hoax threat call received by IndiGo Airlines at Pune Airport on January 11.

 

DCP Salmantaj Patil informed that the threatening call had claimed that 40 aircraft of the airline would be blown up, prompting immediate action from authorities.

 

Upon receiving the threat, all agencies and local police were put on high alert. The source of the call was swiftly traced back to Kanpur, leading to a coordinated effort to apprehend the individual responsible. The phone number used for the threat was successfully traced, and the device was recovered.

 

DCP Patil clarified that the accused, a 15-year-old boy, allegedly sought attention by making the false threat. It was revealed that the boy had utilized information from the internet to carry out this misguided attempt to garner public attention.

 

Fortunately, authorities have confirmed that the threat was a hoax, and there is no actual danger posed to the airlines.
