Pune: 16-Year-Old Drowns During Ganpati Immersion; Search Operation Underway
Indapur, 18th September 2024: A 16-year-old boy drowned in the Nira River during the immersion of a Ganpati idol in Shri Kshetra Nira Narasinghpur village, Indapur taluka. Police are actively searching for the boy.
The victim, a resident of Handugri village in Paranda taluka, Dharashiv district, had been studying at a Vedapath school in Shri Kshetra Nira Narasinghpur for the past nine years. He had reportedly gone to participate in the Ganpati immersion ritual when the tragic incident occurred.
Local villagers, along with the police and the revenue department, have mobilized efforts to locate the boy. A boat is being used in the search operation. However, according to the Indapur police, the rescue efforts have been hindered by darkness.
