Pune: 17 Accused Arrested By Pune Police In 48 Hours In Connection With Murder Outside Mangala Theatre
Pune 18th August 2023: The Pune City Police’s Crime Branch Units have arrested a total of 17 accused in the last 48 hours from different places in Maharashtra and Karnataka in connection with a murder at Mangala theatre in the city reported on August 15. Four different units of the crime branch were involved in the action and the accused were nabbed from different places in Maharashtra and Karnataka.
According to police, the Unit 1 of crime branch arrested 10 accused involved in the case from Karnataka while Anti Extortion Cell has arrested 2 accused from Keshavnagar Mundhwa, Anti Dacoity and Vehicle Theft Unit arrested 1 accused from Khadakwasla while 4 accused were arrested from Kharadi and Kalyaninagar by the Unit 2 of the crime branch. The police teams have seized four motorcycles used in the crime while 5 mobile phones used to communicate with each other at the time of murder were also seized. All 17 accused including 9 main accused and 8 suspects were handed over to Shivajinagar Police Station for further investigation.
The majority of arrested accused have criminal background and many cases have been lodged against them at different police stations. This include Sagar alias Ellya Irappa Kolanatti who has 16 cases of serious offences including attempt to murder, MPDA, Dacoutiy etc. registered against him while two accused including Rohan alias Macchhi Malleshwar Tupdhar and Sushil Achyutrao Suryavanshi have 5 cases of serious offences registered against them.
It may be noted that Nitin Mhaske (35) an on record criminal was brutally killed outside Mangala theatre by his rivals following an old dispute after he came out of movie theatre after watching a late night show.
