Pune: 23-Year-Old Woman IT Engineer Dies by Suicide in Kharadi; Boyfriend Booked
Kharadi, 31st August 2026: A 23-year-old IT engineer allegedly died by suicide at her residence in Pune’s Kharadi area following a dispute with her boyfriend. The Kharadi Police have registered a case against the boyfriend and are investigating the circumstances surrounding her death.
The incident took place at around 1:30 pm on August 28 at River Dale Society in Kharadi.
According to police, the deceased woman was originally from Patna, Bihar, and was working as an engineer with an IT company in the Kharadi area. She had moved to Pune around two months ago and had recently rented a new apartment, where she was scheduled to shift from Monday.
Based on a complaint filed by the woman’s 49-year-old uncle, the Kharadi Police registered a case against her boyfriend, identified as Amritkumar Arunkumar Singh, 23.
Police said the woman and Singh had studied together during their school years. The woman later pursued engineering studies in Rajasthan, while Singh was working with an IT company in Noida.
According to the preliminary investigation, Singh had travelled to Pune a couple of days before the incident to meet the woman. On Thursday night, an argument reportedly broke out between the two, which allegedly escalated into a physical altercation.
The following morning, Singh reportedly went downstairs from the apartment. The woman was subsequently found dead, and police suspect that she died by suicide.
Police have registered an offence and are conducting further investigations to establish the exact sequence of events and the circumstances leading to her death.
The investigation is being conducted under the guidance of Senior Police Inspector Sanjay Chavan of Kharadi Police Station.
