Pune: 25-Year-Old Woman Dies After Falling From PMPML Bus on Sinhagad Road
Manik Baug, 24th August 2026: A 25-year-old woman died after allegedly falling from a moving Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Ltd (PMPML) bus and coming under the wheels of a school bus on Sinhagad Road on Monday morning, police said.
The incident took place around 9:46 am on the lane towards Swargate, opposite Brahma Hotel and in front of Wood Plaza.
According to police, the deceased, identified as Kanchan Balwant Khadda (25), was travelling in a PMPML bus bearing registration number MH12RN9074, which was operating on the Khanapur-Swargate route.
Khadda, who was reportedly standing near the front door, fell from the bus while it was moving. She subsequently came under the wheels of a school bus bearing registration number MH12UM6339, resulting in serious injuries.
She was immediately rushed to Jagtap Hospital for treatment. However, doctors declared her dead during treatment.
Police have taken both bus drivers to Sassoon General Hospital for medical examination (alcohol test). Further investigation is underway, and police are in the process of registering a case in connection with the incident.
The exact circumstances that led to the woman falling from the PMPML bus are being investigated.
