Pune: 269 cops found COVID positive till now, Manobharosa initiative launched to boost their morale

Pune, July 20, 2020: The Commissioner of Police Dr K Venkatesham and Joint Commissioner Dr Ravindra Shisve interacted with the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) recovered policemen and officers today. The interaction was part of ‘Manobharosa’ initiative intended to boost the morale of COVID positive policemen undergoing treatment through regular professional counselling as well as experience sharing by the recovered policemen.

The initiative assumes significance since 269 staff and officers of Pune police have been tested positive for COVID-19 till now, out of which 185 have recovered while 81 are still hospitalised. A total of 35 recovered policemen participated in the programme held at the cops excellence hall at CP office. Initially, Dr Kavita Kareer, a certified consultant in emotional intelligence, spoke on various aspects of COVID-19 pandemic specifically focusing on the precautions to be taken.

Dr Mamta Venkatesham and Dr Niharika Venkatesham also shared their insights on how to maintain positivity during the pandemic, and appealed not to act on partial information about COVID. Dr Anagha Lavalekar from Jnana Prabodhini’s Institute of Psychology (JPIP) emphasised on the need for early diagnosis and treatment, and urged policemen not to ignore the symptoms.

Some staff also shared their experiences, and how the support of family, friends, policemen, superiors. They said that the Police Commissioner personally spoke to them during their hospitalisation period, and how their support boosted their morale, and helped them to conquer COVID crisis.

Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ashok Morale conducted the programme. DCP (Crime) Bachchan Singh, Inspector Shilpa Chavan, Assistant Police Inspector Swati Kedar, Assistant Police Inspector Sujata Shanme and their support staff were instrumental in organising the programme under the ambit of Bharosa Cell along with the Welfare cell.
