Pune, February 2, 2021: As per the decision of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), schools for classes 5th to 8th in the city reopened from Monday. Out of a total of 950 schools in the city, only 398 schools have been started.

Schools could not start in June last year due to the Corona outbreak. As the COVID19 cases are declining, the state school education department allowed classes IX to XII from November 23.  After the smooth running of these classes, the department decided to start classes V to VIII from January 27. However, PMC decided to start these classes from February 1.

After inspection of Corona preventive measures in the schools, PMC is giving the approval to start the classes. The city has 950 schools for classes five to eight. This includes schools under municipal jurisdiction and private management. Of these, 480 schools were inspected and classes have started in 398 schools from February 1.

In the next few days, after the inspection of schools is approved by the municipal team, the fifth to eighth classes in other schools will also be started.
