Pune: 5 Robbers Arrested By Crime Branch Unit 2 Near Pune Railway Station
Pune, November 9, 2020: The officials from Crime Branch Unit 2 of Pune city police have arrested five robbers who were planning to loot people near the Pune railway station. Now an FIR has been registered against them with Bundgarden police station.
The arrested persons have been identified as Amol Ankush Lamture (19) of Latur, Yuvraj Kalyan Chavan (30) of Osmanabad, Manoj Subhash Pawar (30) of Solapur, all residing on footpaths near the Pune station, Kundan Ramesh Shinde (27) of Katraj and Azhar Shaikh of Yerwada.
According to police, around 8 pm on November 5 Police Naik Mohsin Shaikh had received information about some people armed with sharp weapons who were planning to loot people on the road stretch from Maldhakka chowk to the railway station. A trap was laid and four accused were caught within an hour while Azhar managed to escape taking advantage of the darkness. Later he was also nabbed. Two choppers, one mobile phone and chilli powder have been seized from their possession.
Police officials said that the accused persons are criminals on a police record as there are many cases registered against them, including that of murder, attempt to murder, dacoity, theft etc. Assistant Police Inspector Prakash More is further investigating the case.
The action was taken under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ashok Morale, DCP (Crime) Bachchan Singh and ACP Borade. The team included Senior Police Inspector Mahendra Jagtap, API More, Police Sub Inspector Pingale, ASI Ambre, Head Constable Aslam Pathan and policemen Mohsin Shaikh, Vishal Bhilare, Uttam Taru, Ajit Farande, Mitesh Chormale and Gopal Madane.
