Pune, 3rd October 2026: More than three lakh citizens benefited from free health check-ups conducted across Pune district during the 10-day Ganeshotsav celebrations under the ‘Shri Ganesha Arogyacha’ initiative.

According to officials, a total of 6,586 health camps were organised across Pune district during the initiative, with 3,01,843 patients undergoing health examinations.

The initiative was implemented through the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and Charitable Hospital Assistance Cell, Maharashtra, under the guidance of Rameshwar Naik, head of the cell. In Pune district, the programme was planned and coordinated by Dr Mansing Sable, Medical Officer, Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and Charitable Hospital Assistance Cell, District Collectorate, Pune.

The health camps were organised across Pune city, rural areas, municipalities, nagar panchayats and public Ganesh mandals, allowing devotees and residents to access medical screening facilities close to their homes.

The camps offered preliminary screening for a range of health conditions, including blood pressure, blood sugar, heart-related ailments, ECG, blood tests, kidney diseases, cancer, dental problems and infectious diseases. Services and consultations related to physiotherapy and Ayurveda were also provided.

Health camps also facilitated Ayushman Card registration and organ donation registration. Special attention was given to women’s health, with screening for breast cancer and cervical cancer, while paediatric consultations and screening for other health conditions were also conducted.

Citizens requiring further medical attention were referred to specialist doctors and government, semi-government and charitable hospitals for additional investigations and treatment.

Eligible patients were also guided about various government healthcare schemes, including the Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Jan Arogya Yojana, Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, Charitable Hospital Scheme and other government health programmes.

Officials said the initiative was implemented with the participation of the Health Department, medical officers, nurses, healthcare workers, government and charitable hospitals, local self-government bodies, public Ganesh mandals and social organisations.

Dr Mansing Sable said the initiative focused on making healthcare accessible to citizens in their own neighbourhoods and ensuring that those requiring further treatment were appropriately referred.

The initiative sought to use the large public participation during Ganeshotsav as an opportunity to promote preventive healthcare, early detection of diseases and health awareness across Pune district.
