Pune: 678 Bottles of Blood Donated at Bharati Vidyapeeth Engineering College Camp

Pune, 13th January 2024: In a significant show of solidarity and community service, 678 bottles of blood were collected and donated during a blood donation camp organized at Bharati Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University) College of Engineering. The camp, conducted in honor of the Birth Anniversary of Late Dr. Patangrao Kadam, the Founder of Bharati Vidyapeeth, witnessed active participation from students and faculty.

The event was graced by dignitaries including Dr. Shivajirao Kadam, Chancellor of BV(DU), Baba Shinde, President of Bharati Parivar, Dr. Vidula Sohoni, Principal of BV(DU)COE, Dr. Rajesh Kshirsagar, Dr. Mandar Karmarkar, Dr. A. C. Mishra, Dr. Sachin Chavan, Dr. Sunita Jadhav, Dr. Amol Kadam, Priya Hirve, Prashant Yadav, along with Principals and Directors from various Bharati Vidyapeeth Institutes in Pune.

Ankit Goyal, IPS, Pune Rural Police Superintendent, served as the chief guest during the inauguration of the Blood Donation Camp. Addressing the audience, he shared insights into the challenges students face in today’s competitive environment. He emphasized the importance of balancing professional pursuits with civic duties and societal responsibilities. Goyal commended the efforts of Bharati Vidyapeeth institutes for instilling social values in students despite their demanding academic schedules.

Dr. Shivajirao Kadam reflected on the journey and achievements of Bharati Vidyapeeth, attributing its success to the vision and perseverance of its late founder, Dr. Patangrao Kadam. He highlighted the university’s notable achievement as the first in Maharashtra to receive an A grade accreditation from NAAC.

Dr. Vidula Sohoni, Principal of BV(DU)COE, acknowledged the legacy of late Dr. Patangrao Kadam and highlighted that the blood donation camp has been an annual tradition for the past 30 years, celebrating the birth anniversary of Dr. Patangrao Kadam and Dr. Vishwajeet Kadam, Secretary and Pro Vice Chancellor of Bharati Vidyapeeth. She also underscored the academic accolades and national recognition received by BV(DU)COE.

Dr. Amol Kadam, the coordinator of the blood donation camp, delivered the welcome address, introducing the esteemed guests. Mrs. Priya Hirve, Professor of Civil Engineering at BV(DU)COE, hosted the inaugural function, while Prashant Yadav, coordinator of NSS at BV(DU)COE, presented the vote of thanks.

During the camp, 1205 volunteers registered for blood donation, and a total of 678 bottles of blood were collected, demonstrating the community’s commitment to a noble cause.
