Pune: 9 Sacks Of Waste Collected From Mutha River After Ganesh Visarjan
Pune, 1st October 2026: A post-Ganesh Visarjan cleanliness drive was conducted at Vrudheshwar Ghat along the Mutha River in Pune on September 27 to clear waste left behind after the Ganesh Visarjan celebrations.
The drive was organised by Support Wings in collaboration with Vrukshwari and Kritiva Salaiban Project. Around 10 volunteers participated in the activity and cleaned the ghat and surrounding riverbank.
During the drive, volunteers collected immersion-related debris, plastic waste and nirmalya from the riverbank. Approximately eight to nine sacks of waste were collected as part of the cleanup.
The collected waste was then consolidated and handed over to Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) sanitation staff for collection.

The cleanliness activity was held following the conclusion of the 10-day Ganeshotsav celebrations, during which idols are immersed in water bodies across the city. The drive focused on removing waste accumulated around the ghat after the immersion activities.
The Mutha River and its surrounding areas witness increased activity during Ganeshotsav, with several devotees visiting ghats for idol immersion. Post-immersion cleanup activities are conducted at various locations to remove materials left along the riverbanks.
The September 27 drive at Vrudheshwar Ghat involved volunteers working along the ghat and riverbank to collect the waste and prepare it for municipal collection.
According to the organisers, approximately eight to nine sacks of waste were collected during the activity and subsequently handed over to PMC sanitation workers.
