Pune: Action Taken Following Swargate Bus Rape Case Investigation; Four Officials Suspended For Negligence

Pune, 12th March 2025: Following a shocking incident at Swargate Bus Station in the early hours of 16th February the government has swiftly taken action. Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik informed the Legislative Council that an investigation was conducted based on the victim’s complaint, and a report was submitted accordingly.
Due to negligence in ensuring passenger safety, an internal inquiry was ordered against the station chief and depot chief. Based on the findings, the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) decided to immediately transfer 22 security personnel stationed at Swargate. Additionally, the security board has been directed to appoint new security personnel to enhance passenger safety.
As negligence was evident in this case, Senior Depot Manager Jayesh Patil, Junior Depot Manager Pallavi Patil, Assistant Transport Inspector Sunil Yele, and Assistant Transport Superintendent Mohini Dhage have been suspended.
Transport Minister Sarnaik further emphasized that any future lapses in ensuring the safety of female passengers within the depot would result in strict action against the responsible officials and staff.
