Pune: Adarsh Nagar Police Chowki Established Through Public Participation

Uruli Devachi, 27th August 2026: A new Adarsh Nagar Police Chowki has been established at Adarsh Nagar, Uruli Devachi, through public participation, aimed at providing quicker police assistance to residents and strengthening police presence in the area.
The initiative was proposed by Senior Police Inspector Amol More of Fursungi Police Station, considering the station’s extensive jurisdiction and increasing traffic in the area. Due to the large area covered by the police station, police personnel often faced challenges in reaching citizens promptly during emergency situations.
Against this backdrop, More proposed setting up a separate police chowki in the Adarsh Nagar area. While the necessary administrative process was underway, discussions with local residents, organisations and public representatives led to the idea of establishing the facility through public participation.
The proposal received support from citizens, organisations and local public representatives. As a result, a fully equipped police chowki has been set up in a container at Adarsh Nagar, Uruli Devachi. The facility is expected to help residents access police assistance more quickly and effectively.
The citizens’ organisation Voice of Handewadi, along with public representatives, also contributed to the initiative.
Ashish Ingale said, “The Adarsh Nagar Police Chowki is an important initiative for the safety of residents. With the active participation of citizens and cooperation from the police administration, we have been able to create a facility that will help people get police assistance quickly. We hope this initiative will further strengthen coordination between the police and the local community.”
On August 26, 2026, members of Voice of Handewadi visited the newly established Adarsh Nagar Police Chowki and reviewed the facility. During the visit, Senior Police Inspector Amol More, Assistant Police Inspector Bhushan Potwade and Police Sub-Inspector Rohit Jadhav were congratulated and felicitated for their efforts behind the initiative.
The new police chowki is expected to improve police accessibility in Adarsh Nagar, Uruli Devachi, and enable officers to respond more efficiently to emergencies and local law-and-order issues.
The initiative highlights how public participation and coordination between citizens and the police administration can help strengthen local safety infrastructure and improve police services for residents.
