Pune Airport’s New Integrated Terminal Building Nears Completion with Rs 475 Crore Budget

Pune, 3rd May 2023: The construction of a new integrated terminal building (NITB) at the Pune airport by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) is currently underway and is expected to be commissioned in September 2023. The NITB, which is being built to be energy-efficient, is projected to be a 4-Star GRIHA-rated building and has a project cost of ₹475 crore. The AAI had set multiple deadlines for completion of the project, including January 2021, August 2022, December 2022, January 2023, and May 2023. However, all of these deadlines have been missed so far.
Upon completion, the swanky NITB will be centrally air-conditioned and feature five passenger boarding bridges, 34 check-in counters, and an in-line baggage handling system. Additionally, the NITB will have 27,000 sq. ft. of space for food and beverage and retail outlets, as well as other modern facilities to ensure passenger comfort.
The new terminal building is part of AAI’s efforts to improve infrastructure and services at Pune airport, which has experienced significant growth in passenger traffic in recent years.
