Pune: Ajit Pawar to Inaugurate Sinhagad Road Flyover on May 1

Pune, 29th April 2025: After repeated delays due to the unavailability of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, the long-awaited Sinhgad Road flyover will finally be inaugurated on Thursday, May 1, by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has confirmed.
The 2,100-meter-long flyover, stretching from Vitthalwadi to Fun Time Multiplex, has been completed for some time. However, it remained closed to the public, leading to growing frustration among local residents and commuters.
Initially, the plan was for Chief Minister Fadnavis to inaugurate the flyover. Despite his two-day visit to Pune for other engagements, the ceremony could not be scheduled. With no suitable date available, the state government has now directed the PMC to proceed with the inauguration under the leadership of DCM Pawar.
This isn’t the first time such a change has occurred. Earlier this year, the Rajaram Bridge Chowk flyover, also part of the same road infrastructure project, was expected to be inaugurated by senior BJP leaders. But due to scheduling conflicts, Ajit Pawar stepped in to open that bridge on January 26.
Now, with Pawar set to inaugurate the second flyover in the project, citizens are hopeful that the long-overdue infrastructure will finally help ease traffic congestion on the busy Sinhagad Road.
