Pune, November 25, 2020: Considering the spike in Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases, Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has decided to screen every passenger coming to Pune via railways. This decision has been taken after a thorough discussion with airport and railway officials, informed PMC Commissioner Vikram Kumar.

Kumar said,” The central government has predicted another wave of COVID hitting the city. Initially, we were not examining people coming from different states to Pune. However considering the potential danger of the second wave, a system is being set up at both these places to check the passengers”.

Meanwhile, passengers from Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Goa will be made to undergo rapid antigen test, which will be free of charge.

“Apart from this, discussions are underway with the district administration regarding the inspection of passengers coming from private buses”, he added.
