Pune 26th August 2023: The drivers and contractual employees working with ambulances of the primary hospitals of the district have been waiting for their salaries for a long time. According to officials, many of these contractual employees have been awaiting their salaries for the last five months. The officials of the district administration have blamed the state government for shortage of funds.

According to officials, the ambulance drivers are paid a monthly salary of Rs 9,555 from the contractor for five months. Following the non-payment of salaries in April, the drivers have been left in distress. Notably, even the contract workers employed in primary health centers including lab technicians, pharmacists, attendants etc. have also not received their salaries for the past five months.

An official from the health department said that a provision of Rs 2 Crore will be made to make payments of ambulance drivers and contractual employees. Their salaries were pending due to shortage of funds. The contractors have paid salaries of many employees from their pockets for the last three months.
