Pune, 16th October 2026: In a boost to regional air connectivity in Maharashtra, the Amravati–Pune and Solapur–Mumbai routes have been selected under the Central Government’s revised UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) scheme. The proposal aims to introduce direct flight services in both directions on these routes.

Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Murlidhar Mohol announced the development in a statement, highlighting the potential benefits of improved air connectivity for passengers, businesses and tourism in the two regions.

Direct Air Connectivity to Benefit Solapur

Solapur is an important industrial and commercial centre known for its textile industry, trade, religious tourism and agriculture-based businesses.

The proposed direct air service between Solapur and Mumbai is expected to make travel more convenient for traders, entrepreneurs, professionals and residents who frequently travel to Mumbai for business and other purposes.

Improved connectivity is also expected to support Solapur’s industrial development and tourism potential by making the city more accessible to visitors and business travellers.

Amravati–Pune Route to Strengthen Regional Connectivity

Amravati is a prominent educational, commercial and agricultural hub in the Vidarbha region, while Pune is a major centre for higher education, information technology, industry and employment.

The proposed direct flight service between Amravati and Pune could benefit students, parents, entrepreneurs, professionals and people travelling for employment-related purposes.

The route is also expected to strengthen connectivity between Vidarbha and western Maharashtra, facilitating easier movement between the two regions.

Government Focuses on Regional Aviation

Announcing the development, Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol emphasised the government’s commitment to expanding air connectivity beyond major cities and making air travel more accessible to ordinary citizens.

The revised UDAN scheme aims to promote regional aviation by improving connectivity to cities and regions that have limited air services.

The selection of the Amravati–Pune and Solapur–Mumbai routes marks a step towards strengthening Maharashtra’s regional aviation network and supporting economic activity, business travel and tourism.
