Kondhwa, 13th June 2023: After years of relentless efforts by the residents, the Anandvan Sunshree-Cloud 9 approach road, serving the Cloud 9 area societies, has undergone a remarkable transformation. Previously known for its narrow stretch and steep slope, the road was a hotspot for accidents caused by cement mixer RMCs and water tankers.

However, thanks to the unwavering determination of the Anandvan Parisar Residents Forum (APRF), the road has now been widened and the slope gradient has been significantly reduced, minimizing the risk to commuters.

The APRF, comprising 28 housing societies in the NIBM Road Annexe, emerged as a united front to tackle the long-standing road safety issue. Over the past three years, they staged protests, including dharna programs and human chains, to raise awareness about the precarious condition of the road. Their persistent efforts involved multiple meetings with local authorities, corporators, and even ministers at Mantralaya and the Forest Department. Eventually, their relentless pursuit bore fruit, and forest clearance was granted.

The road improvement project, which commenced in March 2023, is now nearing completion. Tara Singh, the President of APRF, expressed his satisfaction, stating, “We are pleased to announce that a significant portion of the road will be inaugurated on June 14, 2023, by Chetan Tupe, MLA. We are honored to have esteemed guests like Prashant Jagtap, City President, and former Corporator Nandatai Lonkar grace the occasion.”

Looking ahead, the residents have identified several civic amenities that require attention. Top priorities include the provision of pipeline drinking water to the societies, improvements in the drainage network, and the establishment of a Sewage Treatment Plant. Moreover, Singh emphasized the importance of enhancing law and order and traffic management, along with the urgent need for a police chowky in the area. Lt Col Dr. Sanjay Borse, Vice President of APRF, echoed these sentiments, and Mr. Tejpal Singh Suri, the Treasurer, endorsed their views.

With more than 5000 existing flats and numerous upcoming residential units, the area is witnessing rapid growth. To accommodate this expansion, Tara Singh highlighted the necessity for enhanced transportation options, such as bus services and metro connectivity. Additionally, the construction of alternate roads is crucial to ensure smooth traffic flow.

The transformation of the Anandvan Sunshree-Cloud 9 approach road stands as a testament to the power of community activism and collaboration with authorities. The APRF’s unwavering dedication serves as an inspiration for residents across the city, demonstrating how collective efforts can bring about positive change.
