Pune: APS Khadki Girls Win AWES Southern Command Basketball Championship; Dishita Waila Named Player of the Tournament
Bhopal, 30th September 2026: The girls’ basketball team of Army Public School (APS) Khadki won the AWES Southern Command Level Basketball Competition 2026, held at APS Bhopal from September 28 to 30.
Organised under the aegis of the Army Welfare Education Society (AWES), the tournament witnessed participation from Army Public Schools across Southern Command.
APS Khadki remained unbeaten throughout the competition to clinch the championship. In the league matches, the team defeated APS Bhopal 29-22 and APS Bangalore KKR 34-19. They continued their winning streak with a 33-14 victory over APS Jodhpur in their third match to secure a place in the final.
In the final, APS Khadki dominated APS Bhopal, registering a commanding 55-13 victory to lift the championship trophy. The team was led by captain Vrinda Kavale under the guidance of coach Tesmy Ann.
Adding to the team’s achievement, Dishita Waila of Class IX-G was adjudged Player of the Tournament in recognition of her outstanding performance.
The victory marks a significant achievement for APS Khadki, highlighting the team’s skill, teamwork and consistent performance throughout the tournament.
