Pune: Army Clears Land Acquisition For Railway Over Bridge In Ghorpadi

Ghorpadi, 22nd November 2023: The Army has granted clearance for land acquisition to facilitate the construction of a Railway Over Bridge (ROB) on the Pune-Miraj Railway line at Ghorpadi.

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) will provide cash compensation, including building quarters for the Army, and arrange service channels for the project. The tender process is currently underway, and work orders for the contractor are expected to be issued before February.

Project Overview:
1. Clearance and Collaboration: Army officials and PMC authorities recently convened for a security review on the Pune Miraj Railway project. The Army has granted clearance for land acquisition, a crucial step in the construction of the ROB.

2. Transfer of Cantonment Area: In 2016, the Defence Department approved the transfer of 4,560 square meters of cantonment area for the construction of the railway bridge.

3. Progress on Pune Solapur Railway Bridge: The PMC has already initiated work on the Pune Solapur track railway bridge, with 70 per cent of the project completed. The upcoming project for the Pune Miraj Railway bridge will further enhance connectivity and infrastructure in the region.

Tender and Project Details:
1. Tender Process: The PMC has floated a tender for the construction of the Pune Miraj Railway bridge, setting the estimated cost at Rs 48 crore.

2. Contractor Selection: The contractor for the project is expected to be selected by February, after which work orders will be issued to commence construction.

3. Project Dimensions: The total length of the railway bridge is specified as 636 meters, with a width of ten and a half meters.
