Pune, 19th January 2023: Pune Railway plays an important role in transporting newly manufactured vehicles in the vehicle manufacturing industries in and around Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad city. Pune Railway has set a new record this year for the transportation of new vehicles. Accordingly, as many as 86 freight trains of new vehicles have been sent from Pune to the country’s markets in a single month in December.

Even from the vehicle sector, it is now seen that the railway option is being preferred for the transport of new vehicles instead of road transport. Companies like Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, Skoda, Volkswagen, etc are involved in it.

Pune Railway has been transporting various goods across the country from Pune Division for many years. It contains a large amount of sugar and other essentials. New vehicles manufactured in Pune, the Pimpri-Chinchwad area are also involved in it now. From these industries, Pune Railway has transported new vehicles not only in the country but also internationally in Bangladesh. In the last few days, new records of new vehicles are being set by Pune Railway. The new record was set in December.

Pune Railway has the arrangement to deliver newly manufactured vehicles across the country mainly from Chinchwad, Khadki, and Loni stations. At these stations, there is a special system for conveying vehicles to railway coaches. Similarly, special compartments have also been prepared for the safe transportation of vehicles.

As many as 86 freight trains sent new vehicles from these stations to markets across the country in December. Manoj Zhanwar, Public Relations Officer of Pune Railway informed that the Pune Railway got an income of Rs 13.80 crore from it.

The previous record for new vehicle traffic in a month was 66 freight trains in April last year. This new record has been created due to traffic in December. This record has been achieved through the efforts of the Railway Business Development Team under the leadership of Pune Railway Manager Indurani Dubey, Additional Manager Brijesh Kumar Singh, Senior Commercial Manager Dr Milind Hirve, Senior Transport Manager Dr Swapnil Nila.

New vehicles manufactured in the area were being transported by Pune Railway earlier. However, this traffic has increased due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Road traffic was completely closed in the early days of the coronavirus. Since passenger traffic was closed by railways, emphasis was placed on freight traffic. Similarly, industries preferred railways for goods transportation. Due to safe and timely transportation, the traffic of new vehicles to the railways also increased. The Business Development Team of Railways also plays a major role in it.

Chinchwad, Khadki, and Loni Kalbhor stations have special arrangements for the transportation of vehicles by railways. From these places, vehicles manufactured by companies such as Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, Skoda, Volkswagen, etc are sent to markets across the country by rail. A total of 86 new vehicles were dispatched in December. 53 of them have been released from Chinchwad alone.
