Pune Avoid service road from Wakad bridge to Bhumkar chowk underpass due to waterlogging, potholes

Pune, September 24, 2019 : After heavy downpour of rain on Tuesday, people were stuck at Bhumkar chowk near Hinjawadi for over two hours. The service road along the Pune-Bengaluru highway (Katraj-Dehuroad bypass) is full of water and potholes.

ACP Nilima Jadhav from the traffic branch of Pimpri-Chinchwad police have appealed people not use the service, as the traffic is moving at snail’s pace there due to waterlogging and potholes.

After people took twitter complaining aboout heavy traffic jam, police men were deployed to manage the traffic at Bhumkar chowk.

DCP Sudhir Hiremath of Pimpri-Chinchwad Police said, “Our officer and men from both Traffic and police station are trying their best in the midst of the heavy rains, waterlogging n large no. of potholes.”

I just came from Bhumkar Chowk… Hats off to the police… There were only 4 of them in such a pouring rain and yet are able to manage lacs of people. Very very nice love you pune police.

Many people took to Twitter to complain to the Chief Minister’s office as well as Union transport minister Nitin Gadkari.

Jatin Bidaye posted, “Choked at Bottle neck on the way to Bhumkar Chowk from Hinjewadi. Could cross 100mtrs in last 20 mins.”

Digambar Kashid added, “I think Pune, Hinjawadi is highest tax payer. But, 90% of time here is traffic jam. All are spending more than 3hrs avarage time in traffic jam. Is there someone to do “सबका साथ सबका विकास” Img, Bhumkar Chowk”

Indrajit Patil added, “Extremely heavy traffic on Hinjewadi to Bhumkar Chowk road. Please help, it’s completely blocked.”

On the other hand, Adinath Kamode added, “Shame on All these politicians and administration. Roads and areas are designed and developed in such a way that it cant handle water flow.”
